Pub to Pub

STAV is once again running the Pub to Pub ski race from Hotham to Dinner Plain on Saturday August 11. After one year of not running due to lack of snow, and a second where we only just managed a shortened course after a night of shovelling snow, 1995 saw the race as it should be, run on a fantastic track on terrific snow. In fact the snow conditions were so good ( and the road conditions so bad) that we had a much bigger field than anticipated, many of whom turned up very late due to chaos on the road up from Harrietville. This year's event is on the same day as the Vic championships at Lake Mountain, so we probably won't see quite the numbers attending. However this is all the more reason for all you 'ordinary' skiers out there to come along and try citizen racing. (I'm using 'ordinary' in the nicest possible meaning!). The Pub to Pub is about participation, not about winning. It's open to all skiers of any age and ability who are capable of skiing the 13 km or so from Hotham to Dinner Plain - families are particularly welcome. Take the chance to ski the event while all the 'gun' skiers are down at Lake Mountain. All entrants are eligible for the terrific spot prizes generously donated by Ajays Snow Country Sports and the ARC. The event starts at 11 am from outside Hotham Chalet. You can enter before the day by contacting Mick Sinclair on (03) 9398 0316, or enter on the day in the Day Shelter below the ARC office, next to the car park in the centre of the village.
