RESURRECTED VSA: XC-FRIENDLY?Since the Victorian Ski Association decided to become the Victorian wing of Skiing Australia in 1996, relations between the two groups have deteriorated. So much so that earlier this year the VSA decided to break away again. Renamed Victorian Snowsports Association, the reborn VSA are at great pains to persuade everyone that they that it intends to represent all winter sports at all levels. They have adopted a Code of Conduct emphasising democracy, accountability and the fair treatment of all disciplines. They have actively sought cross country representation, both competitive and recreational/touring, in their new committee structure.STAV has provided representatives of recreational/touring interests for the time being to ensure that this opportunity is not lost. The VCCC have provided representatives of touring interests. In the longer term, it seems sensible to consider the issue of XC representation in the VSA in context of deliberations over the formation of Cross Country Victoria.
