1999 STAV SKI SHOW
The 1999 STAV Ski Show will be held on Sunday June 27th at Hawthorn Town Hall. We scaled things down last year, reducing overheads and making the day much more pleasant for volunteers. This years's show will continue on this more modest scale.
New Group to Run Gear Sale
For many years, the gear sale part of the show was run by Bayside Bushwalking Club, to whom STAV owes a great debt of gratitude. This year, for the first time, the gear sale will be run by with Disabled Wintersport Victoria (DWV). Profits from the commissions charged on gear sales will assist DWV in the funding of their trips program for disabled winter sport enthusiasts.
Laser Biathlon Demonstration.
Australian Biathlon Association plan to try out a new laser biathlon event this season. This event using a laser pointer instead of a firearm to shoot the target, will make biathlon safer and accessible to skiers unwilling or unable to obtain a firearm license. They hope to be able to showcase the technology for their new laser biathlon event at the show. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
Volunteers Needed.
As usual, we need volunteers to help with setting up, running things and packing up a the end of the day. We need a steady supply of volunteers from 7:00AM to 3:30PM. If you can help for any part of that time, please give your details to Doug Miller on 9830 0743.
