Controversy Surrounding Mount Stirling

Victoria's Mount Stirling has been the site of considerable controversy in recent years. It is a popular venue for a range of outdoor and educational activities. It has arguably the best cross country skiing within day trip reach of Melbourne. Existing users of Mount Stirling voiced strong opposition to proposals to build a downhill ski resort there. This lead to a government enquiry which recommended that there be no further consideration of downhill ski development at Mount Stirling for at least fifteen years.
